New casts, adaptations and Artistic Directors in London Town

New casts in the West End, and the Royal Court is set for quite a change!

A new week….a new cast of Wicked!
So last week marks a new musical theatre era as Mark Evans (Fieyro) leaves the green stage to join the cast of Ghost The Musical in January and Louise Dearman, a fabulously funny Glinda, sadly leaves too to be replaced by a nearly new cast, except a few exceptions; luckily the fantastic Rachel Tucker is staying on a little longer to continue to send shivers down west-end audiences spines. Busted singer Matt Willis fills Evans’ shoes as Fiyero and Phantom of the Opera star Gina Beck takes on the role of Glinda.

Big change for The Royal Court:
It was announced this week that in April 2013, Dominic Cooke will no longer be the Artisitic Director of the Royal Court as he is stepping down from his position. What does this mean for the future of The Royal Court? It seems time will only tell as Executive Director Kate Horton is also leaving to take on the position as Deputy Executive Director at the National Theatre.

Another week….another adaptation:
It seems it is only a matter of time until all of your favourite films and TV programmes will be adapted onto the stage as even more previous popular successes on screen are being transferred to the stage! Excitingly though for fans, original cast members of the 90’s series of Birds of a Feather will take to the stage in the new production. This is also the case for the new stage adaptation of sci-fi film and TV programme The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Both are touring productions that will be playing around the UK next year. Austin Powers is also set to be adapted for the stage involving Mike Myers himself, not on stage but in production and development.
